My Top 2 Most Used iPhone Apps
While out this weekend snapping photos and editing away on my phone my friends kept asking how I got my pictures to look so cool from the camera. It’s a question that I’m always asked when posting images on my social networking sites as well so I’ve decided to share how I get these images to look the way they do and my 2 most used iPhone photography apps that help me in the process. The great...

What is your favorite style of photography when...
It’s completely ever changing with the different styles I tend to shoot but at the current moment I’m getting into very raw lifestyle photography like the old days when photographers were using film.

What do you think of camera phone photography?
I absolutely love it. I take hundreds of photos weekly with my phone and with some of the amazing apps it makes it not just fun but another outlet for creativity. It’s nice to not have to carry my SLR everywhere and still have a camera at hand.
I see the release this year of better camera phones and better image quality and when I upgrade to that I will be launching a blog just of my...

What is your dream lens or lenses at the moment?
I’m only looking at 3 more lenses to complete my arsenal of equipment I want. The number one lens is the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 and then the 85mm f/1.8 and 17-40mm f/4 for some crazy wide stuff on the full frame.

What inspires you most about your photography?
The ability to not only create something from my vision but to see the final results as well. That will always keep me going and inspired.

What do you use to power your lights on location?
It really just comes down to what lights I’m using. I do a lot of strobist work so for those type of lights I’m just using standard rechargeable batteries for my flashes or for my Qflash the battery pack I bought to go with it. When I’m powering studio lights on location then I’m primarily using the Alien Bee Vagabond II. I know that there is the mini now which I’ll...

How did you shoot your new picture that was from...
I get that question a lot on these types of photos and it is a custom setting that I made for my camera to get this look. I don’t know about Nikon but how I do it with Canon is by creating my own picture style using the picture style editor and then uploading the custom style to my camera.
If you are a Canon user you can upload a few pre-made styles offered on the website or create your...

Are you only using primes these days? Is that what...
I do use primes a lot these days but it’s not the only lenses that I’m using. At the moment I’m using the 35mm f/2, 50mm 1.4, and 85mm f/2.8 for all my commercial, lifestyle, and fashion work and for all lighting just the 24-105mm L. Pretty simple. I’ll be getting the 70-200mm L when I start shooting the PGA golf tournaments this fall but I try to keep my bag as light as...

My images never have that "jump out at you"...
All I can say is practice, practice, practice! A lot of the images that I have that “jump out at you” came from trying different lighting styles and lot’s of trial and error in the beginning. You can always pick up books and youtube is flooded with resources but until you go out and shoot you’ll never grow. It’s not easy but with the hard work put in the outcome is...

Behind The Scenes: Hard at Work
Just a couple nice behind the scenes shots taken of me from my shoot this weekend. It’s a rarity that you’ll ever catch me in front of the camera. Thanks to my friend and fellow photographer Tina Dolin for joining me and sending over the snaps!

It’s always nice to be credited when working with other photographers. It seems whenever my friend Tina comes around we push each others creativity and always expand styles.

Quick Canon 35mm f/2 Test Shot
My 35mm f/2 lens finally came in today after being out of stock for weeks. It showed up just as the sun was going down so I didn’t have a chance to test it like I normally do when I get new equipment. I quickly popped it on the camera and took about ten shoots with the dog in the backyard. Though nothing is truly tested by the looks of it, the background and bokeh look great. Colors are...
